Alena Vieira is an Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Relations. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany). She was a Visiting Researcher at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, Institute for Strategic and International Studies (Lisbon), and at the Catholic University of Leuven. Alena was a scholarship holder at the Inbev-Baillet Latour Foundation; Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung; Haniel-Stiftung; Compania di San Paulo, Riksbanken Jubileumsfond and Volkswagen-Stiftung, as well as the Foundation for Science and Technology.
Alena is the author of the book ‘Russia, Belarus and the Enlargement of the EU’ (in German) (Ibidem-Verlag, 2008), as well as author of various articles published in the journals Europe-Asia Studies, Post-Soviet Affairs, EIOP, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, International Spectator, and European Politics and Societies.
