Annette Bongardt holds a Ph.D. in Economics (1990) from the European University Institute, Florence. She is an Integrated Member of the Research Center in Political Science (CICP) and NIFIP (Faculty of Economics, University of Porto) in Portugal.

She was a Visiting Senior Fellow in European Political Economy at the London School of Economics (LSE) from 2014-19. Before joining LSE , Annette was a Visiting Fellow at the Robert Schumann Centre for Advanced Research of the European University Institute, Florence, and a Senior Member and Academic Visitor at St Antony’s College, Oxford University. She was also a Member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the European Studies Centre of St Antony’s College, Oxford University.

She has been a regular Visiting Professor at the National Institute for Public Administration, Lisbon (where she coordinates the area of European Integration and Internationalisation), and an Associate Professor at UFP, Porto.
